Beaches in Rhodes
The north-west coast of Rhodes is washed by the Aegean Sea waters while the south-east - by the Mediterranean Sea. The Aegean coast is more windy and is characterized by pebbly beaches and choppy waters. The Mediterranean coast is famous for its sandy and gently-shelving beaches. The Mediterranean sea waters are quieter and cooler than those of the Aegean. Accordingly, the east coast of the island is more suitable for traditional beach holiday and its west coast attracts mainly windsurfers.
You will find a multitude of stunning beaches all over the island of Rhodes. There are several sand and shingle beaches around the Rhodes City, Ixia and Trianda (Ialyssos) area, a big and busy sandy spread at Faliraki, and a horseshoe bay of sand at lively Lindos, with several shingle and pebble bays fronting neighbouring resorts. The south is your best bet for peaceful sunworship as this part of the island is less popular with fun-craving tourists.
Afandou, Agia Agathi, Anthony Quinn Bay, Faliraki, Haraki, Ialyssos, Kalathos, Kalithea, Kolymbia, Ladiko, Lindos, Pefkos, Prasonisi, Rhodes city, Stegna, Tsambika, and Vlycha are some of the most beautiful beaches of Rhodes. To view our photo gallery of Rhodes beaches click here.
